Kelly Young, Founder and Owner
My name is Kelly Young, and I have 25 years of experience teaching and training as a fitness professional. I am a certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I also have my Masters in Public Health (MPH). I have thoroughly enjoyed a rewarding career of helping people make incredible, life long transformations. I take my role as a health and fitness professional very seriously and I believe that I have a gift when it comes to bringing out the best in my clients and helping them to see how powerful being healthy and strong can feel.
It is my personal belief that exercise is the absolute best way to improve your physical health and happiness, and I love helping people achieve their goals. I pride myself on encouraging people to think positively while challenging them to push the limits of what they think is possible—hence my slogan, “Get What You Came For.”
I’ve spent much of my career teaching group exercise classes in studios and at gyms. When my father passed away from a rare neurological disease in 2008, I decided to do a fundraiser to support research. In November 2008, I was shocked by the number of people that were willing to join me for, what I called, “Black Friday Boot Camp” to support MSA.
Both the participants and I found exercising outdoors to be liberating and energizing. I quickly decided that this was something I wanted to try again. On March 1, 2009 I started my first Boot Camp Program. The objectives for my program were to get people to exercise (especially those that wouldn’t otherwise), make it affordable, require accountability, and to have fun.
While my dad may not have looked favorably on working out in a parking lot, I know he would be proud of what I have accomplished. From his example, I learned to work hard, take risks, and most importantly, do something that you are passionate about. I love what I do, the people I have met, and the transformations that I have been able to share in. I also love knowing that my father gave me the power to begin such an important venture.
Hot or cold, rain or shine, you’ll find us pushing our bodies in the fresh air. The hard work and dedication of those that have attended classes has resulted in some dramatic body transformations and true life changes. I’m proud to say that I’ve had a small role in their success.
Update as of May 2017:
The success of KBC grew and I started to build of team of dedicated participants that exemplified what it meant to work hard and get better. As the KBC team gained experience and went on to get certified and trained as fitness and nutrition professionals, it was clear that we had more to offer our community. The team and I worked together to develop and coach a small group training program called Camp U that was to be the model for some of the possible offerings in the indoor space. Several people were asking if I ever considered opening an indoor facility. This had been on my radar for about 5 years, but it had to be the right space and the offerings needed to compliment and enhance the outdoor program. On May 3, 2017, we opened INERGY, a unique indoor training studio where we can offer a variety of classes at different times to meet people where they are in their journey to fitness. INERGY is everything I dreamed it be and more. By increasing our offerings, we are reaching more people and becoming a one-stop shop with an amazing array of classes and programs.
Now that you know all about me, go “Get What You Came For!”
